Powerhouse Museum

Guiding light for Powerhouse

Ogilvy PR has worked with the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) for more than seven years providing issues and crisis support relating to the controversial move of the Powerhouse Museum from Sydney CBD to Parramatta. During that time, we’ve worked directly with the MAAS Executive and Board members and the communications team to help navigate through difficult stakeholder, community, political, cultural, internal and media challenges, including the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into Museums and Galleries.

We’ve provided MAAS with a wide range of effective corporate public relations services to protect and promote it. These include ongoing coaching for the Chief Executive for Inquiry hearings; issues and crisis management; MAAS community and stakeholder engagement support; MAAS employee engagement and culture change guidance; government relations advice; new corporate partnership connections for MAAS; and of course, national, state and arts sector PR strategies, guidance and interview support.

Our engagement with MAAS has involved close collaboration on a regular basis with the NSW Premier’s Office, the Office of the Minister for the Arts and Create NSW to deliver the best strategic communication advice and outcomes for MAAS. After several years, the Museum has successfully presented and communicated its architectural plans and vision for both the new Parramatta and Ultimo museum sites.
