Raising awareness of air pollution

Ogilvy PR was hired to help Asthma Australia draw awareness to an increasing health concern – air pollution. About one in nine Australians have asthma, one of the highest rates in the world, so the organisation’s aim is to get people to care as much about what they are breathing as they are eating and drinking.

We quantified the danger with air nutrition diagrams and used typography, data and photography to create a suite of assets, including posters, OOH, social and website copy, that addressed the issue in a non-threatening way. We also included simple steps to reduce the impact of air pollution on health.

The campaign received resounding praise from respiratory stakeholders and was backed by the medical community and both NSW and VIC state health departments. It also gained coverage in leading state-based papers and featured on Network Ten’s The Project.

Most importantly, it sparked conversations between those with asthma and the wider community.
