I don’t know about you, but there’s nothing like a happy, heart-warming video to put a smile on your dial! So, when the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) released their Dance-Off video as part of the ‘When You Work at a Museum’ Museum Dance Off global competition, we were spellbound. We think you’ll love it – and we want you to vote for it!
Museum employees joined in a joyful mix of dancing mummies, self-playing pianos and perfect pirouetting. The Dance Off was accompanied by the opening track of La La Land, “Another Day of Sun”.
Now in its fourth year, the ‘When You Work at a Museum’ Dance Off allows staff to bust out of their usual work routine, put a spring in their step, and create something fun together.
The video was filmed at the Powerhouse Museum, the Sydney Observatory and the Museums Discovery Centre. Keep an eye out for glimpses of the Museum’s awe-inspiring collections of cars, vintage clothing and even The Magic Pudding!
Everyone got involved. We love that so many staff revealed their inner dancer and impressed with magical skills. One young man even managed a perfect jump split! Who knew?
And, with a salute to the future, the MAAS even programmed in a dabbing robot!
Watch for one of the highlights – the registration and conservation team. They stopped dusting old relics for the day and smiled their way through a routine featuring their multi-coloured dusters.
Proving winners are grinners – the video was crowned the winner of Asia-Pacific, with more than 10,000 votes. The voting continues to find the global winner. Vote for the MAAS now to support their spectacular production.
There is no prize for the Museum Dance Off. It’s all about sharing street cred with other great museums of the world! And, discovering with your work colleagues that your inner dancer is but a step away!
