Sydney, September, 2012: Pulse Communications, part of Ogilvy Public Relations Australia, has won Cricket Australia’s brief to handle consumer marketing around the 2012/2013 Big Bash League.

Pulse’s win is a result of a competitive pitch across both Sydney and Melbourne, and will commence immediately. The win follows on the back of Ogilvy PR and Ogilvy RED’s appointment as Cricket Australia’s strategic communications agency partner last month.

Pulse Communications’ Head of Consumer Brands, Alexandra Kelly, says the Pulse team are thrilled to be working with Australia’s premier iconic sports brand developing its latest product offering in market, the BBL.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Cricket Australia as they develop and broaden the sport through BBL. It’s an exciting time in the sport’s evolution in Australia – and we’re looking forward to helping grow its footprint with new consumer segments through a mixture of traditional PR, activation and social media campaigns, ” she says.

Cricket Australia’s Senior Manager of Marketing, Julian Dunne, says he was impressed by Pulse’s deep understanding of consumer audience segments.

“Following on from an enormously successful launch season, BBL | 02 will provide fans with even more fun and excitement. There will be lots of activity leading up to the first match on December 7. We are excited to be working with Pulse who have added some great creative ideas to our communications strategy. Headquartered out of the Melbourne office, the account will be run across both the Sydney and Melbourne offices.

Ogilvy PR Australia is a joint venture between WPP and STW Group, Australia’s leading marketing content and communications service group.
